Fun Fact: This trend originated in the 1800s. During the Romantic Era (1820-1850) freedom of expression was on the rise. During that time, the dress silhouette remained the same whereas the necklines were lowered. Off the shoulder dress originated at that time making the dress silhouette more sexy.
